As one of Peugeot’s latest additions, the new 308 5-Door is exceptionally stylish. It’s softly moulded with subtle contours, chiselled headlights and a slim grille. With a low bumper that houses front air intakes, it has a sporty vibe too. Chrome features heavily on the upgraded trim levels, bringing the sense of smart style you want from a car for commuting. Expect LED running lights and the ‘tiger claw’ tail lights. Choose from an array of stylish metallic paints and striking alloy wheel designs to complete the look of your new car. As a five-door model, it’s practical for family life, making it much easier to get children or luggage into the back seats.
Sink into luxury in the new 308 thanks to its i-Cockpit® design. All of the controls and information gadgets are embedded into the dashboard in an intuitive format. As well as being aesthetic, the sculpted design ensures all controls are angled towards you for an ergonomic driving experience. The small steering wheel is comfortable to hold and adds a sporty dimension. Air conditioning is included as standard to keep you cool on every journey, and the Active trim level adds lumbar support. You’ll have 470 litres of space when the rear seats are up in the boot for your luggage, a pushchair or some sports gear for a weekend away. If you need more space, you might prefer to opt for the SW estate edition.
Select your preferred engine from a range of 1.2-litre PureTech petrol units and 1.6-litre BueHDi diesel variants. Power outputs range from 99bhp through to 205, with a number offered with 110bhp, 120bhp and 131bhp. Start/stop technology is built into every model to help you save on fuel by pausing the revs when you’re stopped in traffic and at lights. Most engines have CO2 emissions at around 100g/km making it cost-effective to run.
As standard, the 308 5-Door comes fitted with Bluetooth® connectivity so you can sync your smartphone to take calls while driving. A USB port allows you listen to music from a device, and there’s DAB digital radio too. Step up to the Active and you can enjoy using a 9.7-inch colour touchscreen for controlling extra gadgets like satellite navigation and dual-zone climate. Reversing sensors are included in this trim for guidance parking, and the Allure trim adds front sensors. Go for the top-level GT Line to get a reversing camera.
Awarded a five-star rating from Euro NCAP, it’s a safe car to drive. It’s fitted with a suite of six airbags and technology such as ESP to keep you from skidding. Optional extras include Blind Spot Monitoring, dynamic cruise control and an autonomous braking system which all use radars to alert you of potential collisions and help you to stop in time.
