Always a dependable choice, the all-new Peugeot Rifter is a practical and stylish family vehicle. Diesel Car & EcoCar Magazine agrees, and bestowed its prestigious Best Utility Vehicle award upon the model in May.
Judges praised the versatility of the all-new Rifter, which is available with five or seven seats and incorporates Peugeot’s innovative ‘Magic Flat’ system. This makes loading up luggage simple, enabling drivers to fold the rear seats at the touch of a button. With a cavernous 4,000 litres of space on offer according to version, it beats many rivals for practicality.
Ian Robertson, editor and publisher of Diesel Car & EcoCar Magazine, which is one of the UK’s leading publications for economical motoring, added that the trademark iCockpit brought an extra dimension to the driving experience, putting the Rifter ahead of the competition.
A further three Peugeot models were ranked in the magazine’s Top 50. Both the 3008 and 5008 SUVs appeared, as did the 508 Fastback. Such success reflects the French marque’s commitment to reducing its vehicles’ emissions.
All new models already comply with the stringent Euro-6d regulations that come into effect in 2020, and by 2023 all cars in the lineup are expected to have an electric option. Indeed, the all-new e-208 is due to arrive later this year.
Peugeot UK’s managing director, David Peel, remarked: “Economy and practicality are two main concerns for many car buyers, so it’s great to see our vehicles do so well in the Diesel Car & EcoCar Top 50 rankings.”
